Our Cliffs of Moher day tour from Dublin leaves 7 days a week at 6:50 am and you are back in Dublin by 7:00 pm at the latest that evening. We choose a circular route so that you do not see the same scenery twice. This gives you the opportunity to see new things each time you look out the window. It is important to us that driving time is broken up so we try and maximise your time off the bus as much as possible. You will be travelling the width of Ireland and while it’s not the biggest country in the world, journey time from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher will take roughly 4 hours.

The detailed itinerary is below. You will see that it is a full day of excitement and fun and you will get the most out of your time with us seeing wonderful scenery, castles and wild limestone regions. You will see the famous Cliffs of Moher, not to mention the Wild Atlantic Way, the Curragh, Dunguaire Castle, the Burren, the cultural villages of Ballyvaughan and Ennistymon, Lahinch beach, the traditional village of Doolin famous for its music, maybe even a sighting of Dusty the Dolphin in the Atlantic Ocean. We will also pass by ring forts, bogs and the famous spine of Ireland, the River Shannon! Phew, what a day!

6:50am - Departing from Dublin to The Cliffs of Moher
We meet at the Molly Malone Statue on Suffolk Street. You begin your new adventure across Ireland to the west coast from here. Meet your guide and your intrepid travelling companions! The first part of the day will consist of heading out on the road towards the west of the country, passing by the Guinness factory and Kilmainham Jail before meeting the main road to the west. You will get to see the Curragh Racecourse and also some of the castles on the way.
10:45am - Arrive at Cliffs of Moher
Arrive at the Cliffs of Moher and take some time walking around this unique landmark. The cliffs are a breathtaking sight and you have time to walk around the cliff tops and look out at the stunning landscape and ocean. You can also see O’Brien’s Tower (entrance not included). We spend an hour and a half at this magnificent location! Entrance to the site and the option to view an interactive show inside the visitor centre is included in our price.
12:30pm - Lunch
Time to head to Doolin village for a delicious lunch. Usually we have lunch at Fitzpatrick’s Pub in Doolin. It has a great range of lunch choices and really good fish. Try the chowder! (Lunch not included)
1:45pm - Walk around the Burren
After lunch, depart for a short trek around the karst region of the Burren. The Burren is famous worldwide for its diverse and wonderful flora that you’ll come across on your tour. Watch out for the orchids and the beautiful gentian blue flowers!

Galway is renowned for its brightly painted pubs, live music and cafés. It is a city steeped in history, explore the meandering streets and listen to the many street performers from around the world who call this city their home. Remnants of the medieval town walls lie between shops selling Aran sweaters, handcrafted Claddagh rings and stacks of second-hand and new books. This ‘City of Tribes’ will sure to be a highlight of your day tour!

The Cliffs of Moher stretch for 8 km and rise to a height of 214 meters above sea level creating a remarkable vista. On a clear day you are afforded views of the Aran Islands and Galway Bay and can see as far as Connemara and the Twelve Bens in one direction and as far as Co. Kerry in the other.

The Burren is a karst limestone area with areas of exposed rock with clints and grykes running through them. Although the Burren has the appearance of being a barren landscape, it is home to 75% of the species of flowers found in Ireland.

Cliffs of Moher Day Trip from Dublin

We had an excellent guide who shared wonderful historical tidbits throughout the day. Most of the others on my tour seemed rather uninterested with the history and folklore of the sights we visited, yet our guide was still patient and kind and didn’t take offense. A few of the stops were brief and more of “photo-ops” than anything, but I didn’t mind. Great day trip for solo travelers, those who are in Dublin for a short time, or for those who are uncomfortable renting a car on their own. Definitely be aware that your experience is greatly affected by the weather, we were very fortunate to have a clear sunny day.

My advice: when your at the Cliffs try to embrace it and take it all in instead of taking photos the whole time!!!!!!

Moher and so much more

Our driver Joseph is a lively local who loves his job and pours his love of country into the tour.

We saw the advertised sights and so so much more. While the cliffs were the main attraction the drive up the coast to Galway was breathtaking and them additional stops we made were most enjoyable. The pub lunch was good – a standard pub meal. We got a chocolate stop and an Irish Coffee stop as well.

Our tip: bring good walking shoes with some grip to the cliffs if you’re going off the paved path. It’s muddy and slippery in spots.

Thanks Joseph for putting your passion and pride into the tour!

Only drawback to this company: no wifi on the bus. There are USB ports but no wifi. The roaming was mostly non-existent.

Cliffs of Moher Day Tour

This trip was fantastic!! It starts very early in the morning (6:50am) so be prepared with a cup of coffee but, you won’t even need it if your driver is Joseph! He starts the morning with an introduction, a schedule of the day, and some good sing-alongs. He definitely LOVES to sing and get everyone involved so, if you are looking to just sit in silence on the bus, it probably won’t happen. We left Dublin, made a quick rest stop about an hour and a half into the drive and continued on to the Cliffs of Moher. In total it was about 3 hours or so. He stops at a few other places, like a smaller area with cliffs, an Abbey, a cute chocolate shop, and a great small pub for some lunch. It is definitely a LONG day but he is very knowledgable and keeps you engaged and informed the entire time. All in all, long day but well worth it. Thanks Joseph!

Irish Day Tours is phenomenal!

I went on a tour with Irish Day Tours 4 years ago to tour the Cliffs of Moher. Upon my return this spring I knew I wanted to see the cliffs again and there was no question with which company I would book. I searched through my old Facebook messages for nearly a half hour to make sure I had the right name. Much to my surprise, upon arriving to the buses to tour the cliffs I was created by THE SAME tour guide I had last time, Bud. Bud is the reason behind me booking the same trip with the same company in the first place. He is nothing short of an incredible human being. He is funny, kind, charismatic, and will go out of his way to make you feel welcome and at home on the tour. He will take pictures for you and tell you all kinds of history about Ireland throughout your time on the tour. I cannot express what a blessing Bud is to Irish Day Tours. If I am to return to Ireland any time in the near future, I will be taking my third tour with him no question.
