Cliffs Of Moher tour Cliffs of moher day tour From Dublin

Cliffs Of Moher Tour

The Cliffs of Moher tour from Dublin leaves daily  at 6.50 from Suffolk street. Click Cliffs of Moher tour for Details and a detailed Itinerary.

We have been running the Cliffs of Moher tour for 6 years and our driver guides give the best experience possible to our clients. Our guides are cited as accommodating, humorous, knowledgeable, energetic and entertaining. The singers amongst them will even sing you an Irish ballad (Trip Advisor). We don’t believe in giving a scripted tour but give our guides the freedom to express their own unique character while informing their guests of the highlights and the history while travelling along the Cliffs of Moher tour route. All our guides bring something different to the table: Joey has a great sense of humour and can sing a ballad or two! Bud goes out of his way to make the experience special for all his guests and has told me that no matter how many times he has been to the Cliffs, he is conscious that for all his passengers it is their first time and that it is his duty to make it a special occasion for them. Wayne has a sense of humour sometimes close to the edge but always in good spirit; his knowledge of history is second to none and he is more than happy to answer any questions. These are only a few of our many personable drivers and each one brings their own unique personality to the tour!

Bud, Cliffs of Moher tour

Our first stop is the Cliffs of Moher where you get an hour and a half to explore the Cliffs. We have no control over the Irish weather so we recommend that you dress appropriately depending on the time of year you visit, a rain jacket is always advisable. On a clear day the views are stunning along the 8 kilometer stretch of the Cliffs. You can see as far as co. Kerry in one direction and as far as Galway Bay in the other. I personally prefer the vista in slightly more blustery conditions with the dark sky and the turbulent ocean clashing with the cliffs. For a slightly elevated view you can climb O’Brien’s Tower built by Cornelius O’Brien in 1835 – even then this natural vista was a visitor hot spot. There is a state of the art visitor centre which you are free to explore that will give you a fascinating insight into the geology of the cliffs and an insight into the flora, fauna and wildlife associated with the area.

Next stop is Doolin village where you can have lunch or if you already had a packed lunch at the cliffs, explore this colourful village and maybe have a pint of the black stuff in one of Doolin’s many bars. The food here is excellent, with the town known for its seafood. Doolin is also famed for traditional Irish music but this is more of an evening event than a lunchtime session!

After lunch we visit an area of the Burren known as the mini cliffs. Take a stroll around this barren area and check the cracks and grikes to see if you can find the elusive blue spring Gentian or one of the many species of orchid for which the Burren is famed. Even though the Burren gives the impression of a barren area it is home to 75% of the species of flowers found in Ireland. Also due to the temperate climate it is also home to Arctic, Alpine and Mediterranean plants living side by side.

Corcomroe Abbey is the next port of call on this Cliffs of Moher tour. Explore the ruins of this 12th century Cistercian monastery. Although the roof is missing, most of the structure is intact. This Abbey is unique for the carvings that are evident and the effigy of  Conor O’Brien – one of a few of its kind left in Ireland.

Your guide will entertain you, inform you and show you other highlights along the route. Our itinerary only gives an overall perspective of locations visited but it is hard to convey the passion and commitment of our guides in delivering an experience that will be one of the highlights of your visit to Ireland.
